About the role
As Pest Management Officer for the Environment Team, you will be responsible for managing the general biosecurity obligations for council and play an active role in managing the biodiversity on council land with a focus on our many beautiful conservation estates and reserves. Working both in the field and office-based, you will:
* Manage and monitor pest and feral animals such as pigs and dogs in our natural areas
* Manage, monitor and collect data on invasive plant species to inform council's management actions
* Record and report instances and movements of pest animals throughout the area
* Represent council in local and regional pest management forums
* Assist with neighbouring and partnering landowners with land management planning specifically around pest management
* Plan, develop, and deliver management programs using scientific theory and best practise to inform council's prioritisation and management actions
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Relevant qualification in Pest management/Land Management/Conservation or similar discipline and/or significant experience to carry out the range of duties required.
* Current “C” class driver's licence
* Appropriate weapons licence
* AHCPMG304 - Use firearms to humanely destroy animals
A pre employment medical will be required for this role (Including drug and alcohol testing).
