The Opportunity
As part of the Legal Information and Advice Division, the Lawyer (Northern Region - Whyalla/Port Augusta) will play a pivotal role in the development and expansion of Legal Services' advice and information services in the Northern Region (Whyalla/Port Augusta).
You will provide legal advice and support in complex civil, family and criminal law matters through the Legal Help-Line and face-to-face, outreach or telephone appointments. Where necessary you will also provide discrete Task Assistance and Advocacy services and at times provide court advice and duty lawyer services.
This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with local stakeholders and community groups to establish and deliver legal education programs and provide tailored information to community needs and events. As the Lawyer (Northern Region - Whyalla/Port Augusta) you will assist in coordinating the Prison Advice Service to provide legal advice and educations sessions to prisoners.

Salary Range
$86,824-$93,227 per annum pro rata plus a 15% regional allowance and 12% superannuation.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.

Term of Employment
Ongoing Contract available at LSC2 classification level.
What You Need for Success
The ideal candidate will:
* Hold an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate or currently eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate.
* Be an admitted practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and High Court of Australia.
* Possess a minimum of 2 years post admission legal experience.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality, concise advice by assessing problems logically, thoroughly and reliably with due skill and diligence.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team, showing commitment to team and organisational goals.
* Experience in providing advice on various areas of the law relevant to Legal Services' clients and staff.
