Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) is committed to delivering high quality, client-focused and professional services that support the organisation in the delivery of its core function, which is the provision of high quality, safe and efficient health services that are responsive to the needs of patients, carers and the community.
Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Services provides expertise to SMO's and their managers within ISLHD, regarding policy, credentialing and employment records and associated services.
Each Co-ordinator will be responsible for one of two portfolios which currently are:

· Northern Illawarra Hospitals Group including MDAAC

· Southern Illawarra Hospitals Group, including Mental Health, Shoalhaven Hospital Group.

Each Co-ordinator will supervise at least one Medical Workforce Support Officer within the team.
Responsible for the portfolio allocated, this position manages the provision of an effective and efficient recruitment, contract management, onboarding, Training Education Study Leave (TESL) and other leave in addition to advice and support on a range of senior medical workforce issues including, but not limited to, governance, audit, credentialing, appointment, and contracting of senior medical officers, consistent with NSW Ministry of Health (MoH) and Local Health District policy directives and initiatives. In addition, this position provides specialised technical support for the management of the SMO Database and Web platforms within SMO Services to achieve business and service objectives.
