Unit/Directorate: North Metropolitan Mental Health Service – Mirrabooka, WA

Closing date: 2026‐04‐30 4:00 PM

Responsibilities

This position manages an allocated caseload of consumers with mental illness, undertaking clinical assessments and implementing therapeutic interventions. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist provides holistic person‐centred care to consumers of the service and to their carers and significant others.

What we are looking for

A highly capable and values‐driven Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team at Stirling Community Adult Mental Health Service – Mirrabooka Clinic. The successful candidate will be a driven and innovative individual whose actions, interactions and partnerships achieve high quality care.

While qualifications and experience matter, values and attitude speak louder. At NMHS we expect behaviours that reflect our core values: Care, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork and Integrity. The selection process will assess the ability to fulfil the responsibilities of this position while upholding these values.

Area Profile

NMHS is Western Australia's largest Mental Health Service, caring for youths, adults and older adults. Services are delivered through inpatient units, community mental health clinics, day therapy and outreach programs to a catchment area of almost 1 million people. State‐wide and tertiary services include research, forensics, neurosciences, art therapy, eating disorders and other specialised services.

What we offer

NMHS supports flexible working practices and will consider flexible work options where operationally appropriate. In addition to a competitive salary, employees enjoy a range of benefits, including:

* Generous salary packaging to increase take‐home pay
* Professional and career development opportunities
* Diverse and inclusive culture

Application

Your application should include:

* A statement addressing selection criteria (as outlined in the attached JDF)
* A comprehensive CV that clearly shows experience relevant to this role
* The names and contact details of two professional referees; it is preferable that one referee is the applicant's current supervisor or manager

Eligibility and Legal Requirements

Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants considered for permanent positions in the public sector. For fixed‐term appointments, documentary evidence of the right to live and work in Australia for the contract period is required.

WA Health staff undergo criminal record screening, integrity checks and may be required to undertake a working‐with‐children check and a pre‐employment health assessment. Referees may be asked to comment on integrity and ethical conduct. Adverse information does not automatically disqualify an applicant but will be considered during the appointment process.

Selection processes may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies within the health service. If the successful applicant declines or vacates the advertised vacancy, the next most suitable applicant from this process may be selected. This remains valid for twelve months from the endorsement of the recruitment decision.

North Metropolitan Health Service fosters equity and inclusion, ensuring everyone experiences belonging. We celebrate the community's diversity and are committed to recruiting a team that reflects those we care for. Anyone aligning with the values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Innovation and Care is encouraged to apply.

NMHS is committed to growing the Aboriginal workforce under its Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Strategy. Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 applies to this position.

NMHS upholds the social model of disability and welcomes applicants with disability, endeavouring to support reasonable workplace adjustments and flexibility. Applicants with access needs or who require adjustments to participate in the recruitment process should contact the NMHS Talent Attraction Group (TAG) at the listed email address.

Closing

Lodgement is system generated. Any submissions after or on 4:00 p.m. on the closing date will not be accepted.

We look forward to receiving your application.
