- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $74,893.00 - $95,539.00 + Super
- Parramatta Location, flexible and remote working negotiable

The Department of Planning and Environment's (DPE's) Resilience and Urban Sustainability Division delivers major projects such as the Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan, to support the delivery of green infrastructure and resilience planning.

There is an exciting prospect for an Assistant Policy Officer to join the team and help develop and deliver planning initiatives that will make Sydney and NSW more sustainable in the decades to come. We are looking to fill various roles across the Resilience and Urban Sustainability division, as well as develop a merit pool for any future vacancies.

About You

The Assistant Policy Officer is an entry-level role and would be suited to someone starting their career or is seeking to transition to a new skill set. Key skills for the role include project management, critical thinking, and the ability to work in a small team and form relationships with stakeholders, including other teams in the Department/government.

About the role

Work undertaken in this role often includes:

- With guidance from your supervisor, undertake allocated policy development and/or analysis, implementation and review projects and initiatives to contribute to improved policy directions and outcomes
- Prepare advice in allocated policy and areas and timely reports, discussion papers, briefs and submissions to support decision making and contribute to the development of policies and initiatives
- Undertake research and analysis to assist understanding of policy impacts and delivery of desired policy outcomes and support policy and program development
- Identify and evaluate key issues, and formulate options and recommendations to inform policy and regulatory needs and changes
- Work as part of a small team to deliver results.

Essential Requirements

Tertiary qualification in public policy, planning, law, urban design, economics, ecology, geographical information systems or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
