Senior Climate Change Risk Accountant

If you're passionate about climate change, skilled in accounting or risk, and excited by the idea of shaping sustainability reporting for one of NSW's most diverse portfolios, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference.

* Clerk Grade 9/10 starting at $129,464 + Super & leave
* Location preference: Preferred Regional NSW but metropolitan will be considered right candidate
* Ongoing Full time role
* Hybrid working - minimum 3 days per week in a DPIRD office

In this role, you will be instrumental in the preparation, analysis and delivery of portfolio climate change reporting, ensuring DPIRD meets evolving requirements under Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards and NSW Treasury policies.

You will also:

* Review and draft financial and accounting policies to ensure compliance with the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
* Build strong relationships across the Primary Industries and Regional Development portfolio to establish processes for capturing and reporting Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, including agricultural emissions.
* Analyse Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions data and produce meaningful reports that directly support climate change risk management decisions.
* Collaborate closely with the Climate Change Risk Manager to prepare annual climate risk disclosure packages and respond to audit and NSW Treasury queries.
* Provide expert advice to senior leaders on the financial and reporting implications of climate change risk.
What you'll bring

You'll be successful in this role if you have:

* Experience in carbon or climate-related accounting, including emissions data analysis and reporting.
* A degree in Commerce, Business, Sustainability, or extensive relevant practical experience.
* Strong knowledge of emerging accounting standards, Treasury guidelines and mandatory climate reporting requirements.
* Experience designing or managing systems to capture and report climate change related or GHG emissions data.
* The ability to form effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and provide timely, high-quality advice.

An understanding of agricultural systems or ag-related emissions will be highly valued, given DPIRD's significant agricultural footprint.

Most importantly, you'll bring passion, curiosity and commitment to helping DPIRD navigate what's ahead in climate risk, sustainability reporting and emissions management.
