Lead Patient Safety Specialist
The position of Lead Patient Safety Specialist is a vital role within our healthcare organization, responsible for leading the development and implementation of systems that ensure effective identification, investigation, and management of clinical incidents. As the Lead Patient Safety Specialist, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, provide expert guidance on incident review methodologies, and support the delivery of education programs that build staff capability in patient safety. Your leadership will also extend to chairing or supporting key committees focused on safety and quality, ensuring alignment with relevant policies and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and authority to influence clinical practice changes in relation to provision of safe patient care.
• Deliver the NSW Health Incident Management policy and ensure that incidents are managed within legislative requirements and key performance indicators.

Requirements
• Current authority to practice with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and/or relevant tertiary qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the Local Health District.
• Strong background in clinical practice improvement, continuous quality initiatives, and implementing patient safety systems aligned with MoH policies.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams, engage stakeholders, and drive safety culture.
• Knowledge of information management systems and quality platforms, and the ability to utilize analytical and problem-solving skills, including knowledge of evaluation methods, statistics, and research techniques.
