Job Title: Seed Collection and Youth Engagement Coordinator
Support the Wiluna Martu community as a Seed Collection and Youth Engagement Coordinator, working on seed collection initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate seed collection programs with the Martu people in Wiluna.
* Develop business plans for seed collection, ensuring cultural protocols are respected.
* Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to guide the seed business and track progress.
* Oversee seed production area management, including planting and general maintenance.
* Plan and lead seed collection work on Country with Martu.
* Identify and collect seed species, consulting with elders, rangers, and specialists.
* Ensure quality control of seed collection, storage, record-keeping, and logistics.
* Monitor progress and report on seed collection outcomes.
* Oversee youth engagement programs, collaborating with teachers and students from Wiluna Remote Community School.
Requirements:
* Experience in seed collection, botany, plant ecology, or land restoration.
* Business management skills.
* Experience working with indigenous youth and in the land management sector.
* Strong understanding of Martu culture, customs, and respect for traditional ecological knowledge.
* Ability to lead, mentor, and work with Indigenous ranger teams.
* Good planning, organisational, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
* Strong commitment to safety in field work.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under limited supervision.
