Tour Guide on historic Tall Ship James Craig
Want to make a difference by volunteering, preserving maritime history while spending your time with a great team in a friendly environment? Sydney Heritage Fleet is a volunteer organisation dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels which represent Australia's maritime history including the 1874 Tall Ship James Craig, 1912 K‑class ferry Kanangra, coastal steamship John Oxley, 1902 steam tug Waratah, VIP steam launch Lady Hopetoun, 1903 schooner Boomerang, tugs and several diesel motor launches. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join as tour guides, welcoming visitors on board this historic sailing ship.
Responsibilities
* Guide visitors around the James Craig while sharing the ship's fascinating history and details of its restoration.
* Present the beautifully restored Tall Ship James Craig to guests.
* Promote the Sydney Heritage Fleet and its activities.
About you
* You enjoy engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and countries.
* You thrive as part of a small, dedicated volunteer team, with no strict commitment other than your availability on select days.
* No specific qualifications or prior knowledge are required – just a genuine desire to showcase the ship, share information about its features, activities, and events, and promote the Sydney Heritage Fleet.
* You have an interest in maritime heritage and enjoy meeting new people.
* You possess confident communication skills.
* You are available ideally to volunteer one day per week (Monday to Sunday).

Type Of Work Tour Guides, Information & Heritage
Time Required The ship is open to visitors 7 days a week. 10:15 am Sat, Mon, Wed. Otherwise 11:15 am. Finish at 3:15 pm. You can attend on whatever days suit you. Occasionally a day coordinator will put out a general call for help.
Training Training and information resources will be provided. Your questions will always receive a cheerful answer.
