About the Role
As our Senior Underground Geologist at East Kundana, you’ll play a key role in leading and supporting a team of underground mine and project geologists, while working closely with the broader site team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide day-to-day geology activities and contribute to longer-term planning and strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to shape in-mine exploration, influence decision-making, and help drive strong geological outcomes across the operation. A big part of the role is supporting and mentoring your team, helping them grow their capability and confidence, while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture. You’ll also be involved in reporting, budgeting, and working with drilling contractors, providing a balanced mix of technical, leadership, and commercial exposure.
* Planning and coordinating in-mine geological activities to support safe and effective production
* Contributing to and shaping in-mine exploration strategies
* Supporting and developing a team of geologists
* Overseeing grade control processes and maintaining high QAQC standards
* Working with the Senior Resource Geologist on geological modelling and estimation
* Participating in reporting, forecasting, and budgeting cycles
This role is offered on an 8:6 roster (12-hour days), FIFO from Perth or residential in the Goldfields.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings a strong foundation in underground mine geology, along with a collaborative and down-to-earth approach to working with others. You might already be operating at a senior level, or you could be ready to take that next step into a leadership role. Either way, you’re hands-on, enjoy supporting others, and contribute to a team environment.
* 6 years experience in underground mining and exploration geology (gold experience will be highly regarded)
* Confidence working with geological data, grade control, and modelling
* Exposure to drilling programs and contractor management
* Familiarity with 3D modelling software
* Mentoring and supporting the development of others
* Strong communication and relationship-building across teams
* Ownership of work and follow-through
* Commitment to safety and doing things the right way
You’ll also need to hold relevant geology qualifications and a current WA drivers licence.
