Job Profile
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Legal Support Officer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing and typing legal papers and correspondence, arranging service and follow-up service of legal documents, maintaining files, and dealing with clients and liaison roles.
* Main Responsibilities
* Preparing and typing legal papers and correspondence such as affidavits, writs, statements of claim, defences, summonses, complaints, briefs to counsel, motions, and subpoenas from draft or dictated text;
* Arranging service and follow-up service of legal documents;
* Managing schedules, ensuring deadlines are met, and maintaining Lawyer's diary etc;
* Maintaining files – file management of substantial amounts of documents. This includes preparing documentation and letters as required. All documents, letters, file notes etc. should be saved on the file preferably at the conclusion of each day;
* Providing exceptional client service and handling client queries in a polite and friendly manner;
* Liaising with barristers, clients, interpreters, Principals, Lawyers, and staff;
* Undertaking general office duties (filing, photocopying, faxing, binding etc.).
Requirements
* Key Qualifications
* Strong attention to detail;
* Excellent literacy and communication skills;
* Professional and confident telephone manner;
* Polished secretarial skills and accurate typing, minimum 70 wpm;
* Excellent organisational and administrative ability;
* Advanced knowledge of MS Word for Windows, knowledge of PowerPoint, and internet web skills. FileSite and CaseFlow knowledge essential.
