Mechanical Project Engineer Position
Role Overview
This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full project lifecycle management from design to commissioning, focusing on conveyors, automation, sorting equipment, and bulk handling machinery.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement project plans, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of materials handling equipment
* Create layouts, process schemes, and technical specifications for tenders and construction projects
* Coordinate the delivery of design documentation, monitor installation, commissioning, and onsite activities
* Assess and negotiate design variations, controlling costs and resources
* Foster strong relationships with clients, contractors, and design teams
Requirements
* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
* Proven experience across end-to-end project delivery (design, construction, commissioning)
* Background in one or more of the following: food & beverage, waste recovery, parcel / baggage handling
* Strong knowledge of conveyors, robotics, automation, bulk and unit load handling equipment
* Awareness of process engineering design codes, procedures, and practices, as well as computer-based design processes
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to work onsite across Australia when required
