Primary objective
Provide timely and culturally appropriate frontline support to clients of the Elective and Emergency Department Admission
Services. Manage the overall daily operations with a strong client focus including reception, registration standards, accurate
financial classification and raising charges for services as required. Employees are required to work across a 24/7 rotating shift
roster including Monday to Friday day shift intermittently.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level frontline services and patient centred support in a complex and fast-paced service environment.
2. Act as the first point of contact for clients presenting to the Elective and Emergency Admissions Departments, providing a
professional and high standard of customer service.
3. Adherence to all relevant policies and procedures including the NT Code of Conduct and patient privacy and confidentiality.
4. Verify client demographic and financial details in accordance with NTG Departmental Policy and Australian Council on Health
Care Standards (ACHS.
5. Verify client's medical insurance details and levels of cover prior to admission, ensuring clients are aware of the extent of their
policy cover and provide informed financial consent.
6. Support Hospital imperatives around revenue enhancement and work closely with the Revenue Team to achieve targets.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the work
being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a complex workload, accurately complete daily tasks, and undertake handover at
each shift change, while remaining calm under pressure with constantly changing priorities.
2. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision when required, and methodically as part of a wider team
contributing to a collaborative work environment.
3. Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster across various shifts, supporting a 24‑hour frontline service delivery model.
4. Demonstrated well developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively
negotiate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Proven highly developed computer literacy, including comprehensive use of information systems, relevant Microsoft
applications (including spreadsheets), and well‑developed information management skills.
6. Demonstrated experience delivering a high level of professional and courteous client focused services to members of the public.
7. Demonstrated experience in appropriately handling confidential and sensitive information in a discreet and professional
manner.
Desirable
1. Possession of, or willingness to complete an accredited Medical Terminology Certificate III.
