In this role, you'll:
Work as part of a team delivering essential road infrastructure improvements on various construction projects.
This role will see you operate a variety of heavy plant machinery—such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, bobcats, mixers, stabilisers, and rollers—while performing both routine and complex manual tasks.
You'll play a key role in maintaining safety standards, conducting equipment checks, identifying environmental hazards, and contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
You will drive operational excellence and workplace safety in a dynamic construction environment, helping deliver a critical project on time while developing your skills across multiple plant types.
This is an ongoing full-time role based at Welby.
You may be required to work outside of normal working hours, and you may also be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home.
TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 75 kms driving distance from the Welby Depot.

About you
We're seeking a safety-focused plant operator who is a team player with experience in civil construction and in safe and efficient operations of plant such as backhoes, loaders, bobcats, mixers, stabilisers, and rollers.
* You'll be confident, and highly capable operating major plant and have proven experience rectifying simple hazards without direction and reporting them accordingly.
* You have demonstrated ability in using literacy and numeracy skills to complete work records and effectively communicate with the work team.
* You have experience in civil construction, or Certificate III in Civil Construction or an equivalent qualification.
* You hold a current unrestricted Australian C Class drivers' licence and a current Construction Industry White Card.
* You are ideally qualified with Traffic Controller tickets (Implement Traffic Control Plan / Prepare Work Zone) or possess the ability to gain both within 3 months of employment.
* You are willing to complete any required legislative or internal training, licences, or tickets as needed.
