Primary objective
Provide advice on procurement framework related enquiries, complaints and referrals to agencies and assist with the
development, maintenance and implementation of whole-of-government procurement policy, guidelines and reporting.
Context statement
The Procurement Policy team oversees whole-of-government procurement policy and capability. The Northern Territory
Government is currently reviewing and modernising procurement practices to reduce unnecessary red tape and create a
more efficient interface with business. The position plays a key role in the team designing and delivering these reforms.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide procurement advice and a referral service in response to enquiries/complaints about the NT Government
Procurement Framework.
2. Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of whole-of-Government Procurement policy, guidelines,
contract conditions and reporting.
3. Support specific procurement policy and project initiatives by undertaking quality research and analysis.
1. Prepare documents, correspondence, reports, papers and briefings for the Minister, Executive/Senior Management and
as required.
5. Foster collaborative relationships across agencies by coordinating and/or contributing to across agency work teams.
6. Provide secretariat support to the Territory Procurement Champion and the Procurement Appeals as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of and experience with procurement and contracting processes including procurement legislation/guidelines
or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
2. Experience in policy research, development, implementation and evaluation.
3. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly and purposefully communicate in a
range of written formats for various audiences.
1. Experience in providing or sourcing advice in response to enquiries in a fast paced, high volume and complex operating
environment.
5. Demonstrated history of displaying personal drive and integrity, adhering to organisational values and operating within
the boundaries of organisational processes, legal and public policy constraints.
6. Proficient in the use of electronic business systems, analysing data and preparing reports.
7. A demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and support the unit's outcomes by effectively working in a team environment
or on own projects
