About the Role
Senior Correctional Officers will lead by example and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in custodial management. They will provide expert guidance and support to Prison Officers, foster a positive and healthy workforce culture, and ensure a safe and secure prison environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate the day-to-day operations of a team of Prison Officers, ensuring effective teamwork, case management, and custodial responsibilities.
* Maintain a healthy and safe workplace, acting promptly on complaints, reports, or observations of bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, or inappropriate behavior.
* Model and reinforce behavior and thinking within the team that supports individual prisoner rehabilitation and community reintegration.
Senior Correctional Officers will work closely with other professionals to optimize offender rehabilitation through daily routines, services, and programs. They will maintain accurate notes, documentation, and reports related to direct offender management interactions and supervise prisoners in accordance with Commissioner's Requirements and Deputy Commissioner Instructions.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have:
* Demonstrated leadership ability in a correctional environment.
* Commitment to working collaboratively with staff, prisoners, and service providers to reduce reoffending.
* Experience and skills relevant to Correctional Delivery, staff management, and offender case management.
* Knowledge of legislation, policy, and procedures related to Corrections Victoria and its prison facilities.
You will also require:
* A full Victorian driver's license.
* Completion of the Prison Officer Pre-service Training or willingness to undertake it.
* Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Custodial) or similar qualification.
