Primary objective
Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective social work inpatient and outpatient services within the Tennant
Creek Health Service.
Context statement
NT Health provides integrated allied health services in a variety of service settings including acute and sub-acute care,
primary health care, aged care and mental health. Currently seeking applicants in Social Work for appointment at the Tennant
Creek Health Service. This position will require the applicant to work within an extended hour’s service model including
weekends and out of hour’s on-call.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate Social Work services under minimal supervision within a
multidisciplinary framework.
2. Provide feedback to senior staff and management on program and clinical issues.
3. Provide clinical/professional supervision and/or support to students and relevant staff
4. Prioritise and manage a caseload within a dynamic and evolving work environment to ensure timelines and health
outcomes are met.
5. Co-ordinate and/or contribute to continuous quality improvement and service development activities at a local or
regional level to ensure delivery of contemporary Social Work services.
6. Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant qualifications in Social Work that meets membership eligibility requirements of the Australian Association of
Social Workers and meet AASW criteria for the provision of clinical supervision.
2. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with
patients and families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
3. Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience
working in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
4. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision of students and/or staff and a commitment to professional
development.
5. Proven ability to implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
6. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage a high volume workload.
Desirable
1. Possession of a NT drivers’ licence / willingness to obtain one.
