Electrical Maintenance Technician Position
Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a highly skilled Electrical Tradesperson. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the electrical systems of critical power generating plants, ensuring their safe and efficient operation.
Your key responsibilities will include undertaking reactive and predictive maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems, managing and investigating critical plant emergency incidents, and conducting operational and technical commissioning tasks while working with engineering teams and other trades.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance activities on complex electrical equipment.
* Manage and investigate critical plant emergency incidents, complete plant failure/condition technical reports and efficiency assessments.
* Conduct operational and technical commissioning tasks, collaborate with engineering teams and other trades.
* Maintain gas/diesel reciprocating engines, gas turbines and electrical power generation equipment.
* Develop and maintain site records for accurate historical information, utilize the maintenance management system and time confirmation of all tasks.
* Liaise with contractors coming on site, manage relevant permits and contractor supervision for safe and reliable operation.
* Work within Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) processes and procedures.
* Participate in an on-call roster and travel to other stations when required.
Requirements:
* A Grade Electrical/Fitter Mechanic trade qualifications or equivalent technical work experience in the power generation industry.
* Demonstrated ability to perform detailed fault-finding on complex electrical systems, isolate multiple energy sources, and work within permit to work systems.
* B Class Gas Licence (or ability to obtain B Class gas licence).
* Competence in workplace safety and commitment to safe work practices.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills for team membership and contribution to workplace objectives.
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and procedures.
* Sound ability to work in a Permit to Work system ensuring safety to all personnel, and ability to work unsupervised yet still maintain constant interaction with operational staff.
* Well-developed computer literacy.
* Capability to participate in an on-call roster and have an NT drivers license.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
* Experience in large scale heavy industry environments.
* Experience in gas, diesel, or solar generation.
* High Risk Licences (CSE, Forklift, Working at Heights, EWP), current senior first aid certification or ability and willingness to obtain.
* Hazardous area electrical installation, inspection, and maintenance certification.
