NORSTA Maritime is the Regional Maintenance Provider for the North-East, delivering project management capabilities, technical expertise and quality assurance activities for the Royal Australian Navy fleet.
We provide advanced maritime sustainment planning that coordinates fleet maintenance at scale across Far North Queensland, Northern Australia and adjacent waters for the Commonwealth of Australia.

Due to high demand, we are expanding rapidly and developing further capacity for more vessel platforms.
About the Role
The Technical Writer writes and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user/service manuals, programming manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop technical documentations to support the delivery of maintenance activities across different vessels;
* Participate in the planning processes and activities relating to External Maintenance Periods;
* Develop work instructions and technical repair specifications to enable repairers to undertake work scopes on maintenance tasks including preventative, corrective and engineering change maintenance;
* Support maintenance activity variations, additions and other growth work.
About You
You will have at least five years' experience as a quality technician or technical writer role with experience in mechanical/electrical/electronic manufacturing. Preferably, you will also have had exposure to Department of Defence systems and processes.
Your Skills:
* Ability to interpret specifications and engineering drawings, including geometry tolerances;
* Ability to interact effectively with peers within and outside the immediate team, to implement business improvement requirements;
* Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under their own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost;
* Ability to use good written and verbal communication skills is important to this role;
* Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and Project.
Qualifications:
* Certificate or Diploma in a trade (Engineering/Building & Construction/Electrical/Automotive).
* Minimum 5 years' experience in either trade/engineering/quality assurance role.
