Area Profile
The Midwest health region of Western Australia covers more than600,000 square kilometres, nearly one fifth of the State, with itspopulation concentrated along the coast. The region is located inthe northern middle section of Western Australia and incorporatesfour health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest andMurchison.
The $188 million redevelopment ofGeraldton Health Campus is an investment in the Midwest,delivering:
* an expanded emergency department
* a new intensive care unit and new high dependency unit
* a new integrated mental health service inclusive of anadult mental health inpatient unit and a mental health shortstay unit
* a reconfigured main entry
A community reference group withlocal consumers, staff and representatives from local organisationshelped inform the architectural drawings.
The group also shaped culturalrecognition of the traditional land owners and representation ofregionally significant landmarks and industries in the newfacility.
