Our leading global mining client is proud to be a leading Australian producer of premium quality hard coking coal for export steel markets within Central Queensland's Bowen Basin, with additional joint ventures in steel making coal, copper and magnanese across North West Queensland and Western Australia. With steelmaking coal being an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world, this is an fantastic opportunity to join a leading growing client with a focus on sustainability, innovation and progression within the workforce and supporting local communities.
What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking an experienced Principal Mining Engineer to join a high-performing open-cut coal operation in Queensland. This is a site-based DIDO role with FIFO available if required, offering an immediate start and a 12-month contract.
This role requires a highly capable, multi-skilled engineer who can operate across a range of technical and leadership levels, from Mining Engineer through to Senior Engineer or Superintendent, depending on site needs.
Key Responsibilities
Short and medium-term mine planning
Pit design and reserves development using Deswik CAD
Dragline planning and optimisation using Deswik DD and 3dDig
Truck & Shovel / Excavator design and scheduling
Drill and Blast design using Deswik DB and Blast Logic
Production and haulage scheduling using Spry
Providing technical leadership and support across planning and operations
Working closely with site leadership to deliver safe, efficient mining outcomes
About You
Minimum 10+ years open-cut coal mining experience
Strong background in dragline strip and truck & shovel terrace mining
Highly proficient across multiple planning and operational disciplines
Advanced experience with Deswik suite, Blast Logic and Spry
Comfortable working across different levels of responsibility
Willing and able to work on site in a DIDO or FIFO arrangement
What You Will Need
Training Transcripts/ LMS with proven experience
Standard 11, Coal Board Medical and Drivers License
