Project Overview
Bechtel is delivering engineering, procurement, and construction services to the Eva Copper Mine Project, a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia, owned by Harmony.
Job Summary
In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts.
Major Responsibilities
* The lead electrical and instrumentation field engineer manages the site EI field engineering team, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines.
* Leadership/Supervision: Proactively engages with team development through CPM, competency development/assessment, and feedback.
* Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
* Work Planning & Packaging: Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
* Material Management: Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
* Quantities: Possesses responsibility for quantity take‐off, control, reporting, and forecasting.
* Safety & Quality Control: Ensures zero‐accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in secure condition and operated safely.
* System Turnover Coordinator: Direct hire. Coordinates between Construction and Startup to ensure system walk‐downs are performed, interfaces with the Startup Specialist as required to support component/system turnover, and assumes responsibility for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.
* STR / Subcontract Coordinator: Reviews and approves inspection test plans and coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and ***** years of relevant experience or ***** years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Prior practical engineering work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the design, construction, and commissioning requirements of LV and MV electrical power generators and distribution equipment.
* Prior practical engineering work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the design, construction, and commissioning requirements of process equipment including pumps, compressors, instrumentation, and control equipment.
* Willingness and ability to work FIFO rosters, travelling to/from various office/project site locations within Australia.
* Safety, quality, cost, and outcome focused.
* Demonstrated leadership in a team‐based environment.
* Knowledge of a single or multi‐discipline construction or engineering operation.
* Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
* Exposure to completion system would be advantageous.
* Experience working with, supervising, and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.
