Job Description
We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Linux kernel engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving engagements with key silicon and cloud partners, leading the mitigation of common vulnerabilities and exposures for Ubuntu Linux, and architecting enhancements to performance and correctness.
This is a mid-senior level role that requires strong technical expertise in operating systems kernel development or low-level system engineering. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality results, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive engagements with key silicon and cloud partners to provide optimal solutions for their platforms
* Lead the mitigation of common vulnerabilities and exposures for Ubuntu Linux
* Architect enhancements to performance and correctness
* Streamline the packaging and distribution of third-party components
* Develop new means to deliver Ubuntu Linux at scale
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A deep understanding of operating systems kernel development and low-level system engineering
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Experience working in a *nix-based operating system kernel and distribution
* Python and Bash scripting ability
* Prior experience developing with software packaging formats
* Familiarity with Git version control system
You will also have the following nice-to-have skills:
* Strong background in RTOS and real-time performance analysis
* Demonstrated experience with kernel patching and debugging
* Strong grasp of device drivers, BSPs, and other low-level system engineering
* Prior experience with Rust
