**About Us**
**Ngamai Wilam** is a newly built **12-bed residential eating disorder treatment facility** in Armadale, opening in **May 2025**.
Jointly funded by the **Australian Federal Government** and the **Victorian Government**, this **statewide specialist service** is managed by **Alfred Health**.
Ngamai Wilam provides **24/7 trauma-informed, recovery-focused care** for adults aged 18 and over in a **gender-inclusive, home-like therapeutic environment**.
With a solid focus on **family and chosen supports**, our approach is deeply **person-centred**, prioritising **dignity, choice, and long-term recovery**.
As part of **AMAH Statewide Services**, alongside **WREN (Women’s Recovery Network)**, **Ngamai Wilam** is at the forefront of **innovative mental health care**, integrating **Open Dialogue principles** to promote collaborative and holistic recovery.
**About the Role**
This position is sessional and provides an opportunity to develop specialist skills in exercise physiology within an eating disorder and mental health setting.
As our **Exercise Physiologist** at Ngamai Wilam, you will:
- ** Play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey** within a residential eating disorder program.
- Facilitate i**ndividual and group exercise physiology sessions** that promote physical well-being, emotional regulation, and engagement in recovery
- Work **autonomously within a small, supportive team**, with direct access to leadership and clinical expertise.
- Collaborate closely with **nurses, peer workers, dietitians, and lived experience practitioners** in a truly **multidisciplinary environment**.
- Contribute to service development and innovation, ensuring best-practice care for participants.
**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in Exercise Physiology.and accreditation with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP).
- Experience providing exercise physiology interventions within mental health services, preferably in eating disorder treatment, trauma recovery, or inpatient/residential settings.
- A **passion for working with individuals experiencing eating disorders** and a commitment to **recovery-oriented practice**.
- ** Experience (or strong interest) in eating disorders** across hospital, community, or specialised programs (desirable).
- Postgraduate qualifications or working towards (desirable).
- Minimum of two years’ post-graduate clinical experience in a mental health or related setting.
- Experience working in **residential or mental health settings** (desirable).
- A strong understanding of the **Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022)** and relevant legislation.
- ** Current Victorian Driver License, Working with Children Check, and Background Check.**
