The Role

The role of First Nations Religious Education and Faith Formation Educator belongs to the Formation for Mission team in the Religious Education directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our Broome Regional Office.

This role is designed to support and work collaboratively with the Broome based CEWA Religious Education Consultant, members of the Religious Education Directorate and Broome Regional Office, to help develop culturally responsive faith formation and Religious Education curriculum delivery. To co-create contextualised Religious Education resources for Catholic schools of the Broome Diocese.
This is a full-time, ongoing role commencing 1 January 2026.

The primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

* Co-develop and support professional learning in Religious Education for Catholic schools of the Broome Diocese, inclusive of First Nations culture.
* Co-facilitate Accreditation to Work modules in Broome Diocesan schools.
* Plan and collaborate to help develop prayer and liturgy experiences which include a First Nations cultural lens.
* Co-design and support faith formation opportunities.
* Co-design and support curriculum professional learning.
* Provide advice, knowledge, guidance, reports, and information on First Nations culture as it relates to the Catholic faith tradition.
* Support and collaborate on Broome Regional Office Religious Education works to provide a First Nations cultural lens.
* Develop Religious Education resources through co-design with First Nations Educators, and local and regional First Nations organisations.
* Establish and maintain effective networks and mutually respectful relationships within Catholic Education and with First Nation Educators' communities, organisations, and external stakeholders.
* Model learning and teaching practice by working shoulder to shoulder in Religious Education classes with First Nation Educators.

Selection Criteria

ESSENTIAL:

* Personal witness to Catholic faith.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nation cultures and communities across the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain mutually respectful relationships and partnerships with First Nations Educators, communities, organisations and related stakeholders.
* Experience in developing tools and resources that enable engaged learning experiences.
* Willingness to develop and deliver professional learning to adult learners.
* Proven capacity to work cooperatively with others.
* Good oral and written communication skills.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

* Well-developed skills in digital technologies.
* Previous experience working in a school, parish or other education or formation field.
