Role Overview
The Senior Program Officer - Emergency Management is a pivotal role in building safe and disaster resilient communities by supporting Zone Emergency Management Committees (ZEMCs). This position will collaborate closely with senior level stakeholders at all tiers of government, as well as representatives within the emergency management community, to bolster emergency preparedness across the State's eleven Emergency Management Zones.
This role contributes to the Emergency Management arrangements within South Australia, providing leadership, advice and support to ZEMCs. The successful candidate will facilitate effective communication and build relationships with key stakeholders, promote an emergency risk management culture, and identify knowledge gaps in managing emerging, structural, and systemic risks.
Key Responsibilities
* Facilitate Communication and Relationship Building:
o Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
* Promote Emergency Risk Management Culture:
o Foster a culture of emergency risk management across the organization, promoting awareness and understanding of emergency management principles.
* Identify Knowledge Gaps:
o Analyze and identify knowledge gaps in managing emerging, structural, and systemic risks, developing strategies to address these gaps.
* Develop High-Quality Resources:
o Create high-quality resources such as Risk Management Reports and Zone Emergency Management Plans to effectively communicate risk profiles.
* Provide Project Management Support:
o Provide project management support including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. They will also have a strong understanding of emergency management principles and practices, as well as experience in project management and team leadership.
A minimum of Qualifications Required are necessary for this role. However, preference may be given to candidates with relevant certifications or training in emergency management.
