We’re a family-run business, deeply rooted in values that span generations. As we expand, we’re looking for a Junior Agronomist to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms team based in Nericon, NSW. Working closely with our experienced agronomy team, you will be responsible for field collections of sap, tissue, and soil samples, and prepare the samples for in house analysis as well as by an independent laboratory. The recording and collation of field data, entry, and analysis of the data into relevant systems is an important part of the role, while analysing produce to set and maintain standards of quality.
This role will suit a recent graduate with an understanding of agronomy, who is looking to start their career and make a meaningful impact in sustainable food production. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop your agronomic skills, and work within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Accountabilities Include
* Assist with field trials and help manage assessments
* Assist with pest, disease, and moisture monitoring.
* Scout crops for pest and disease issues and report findings
* Field collections of sap, tissue, and soil samples for analysis
* Record and collate field and laboratory data and maintain data collection and management processes including entering acquired data into database.
* Prepare laboratory samples for analysis, following proper protocols to ensure that they will be stored, prepared, and disposed of efficiently and effectively.
* Prepare data summaries, reports, analysis that include results, charts, and graphs to document research findings and trend results.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
* A qualification in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field.
* A good understanding of crop cultivation techniques, fertilization, pest management and irrigation systems.
* Strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
* Excellent observation and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a team or independently with minimal supervision.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in using computers for data management and analysis.
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* A valid driver’s licence and access to transportation will be essential due to farm location (there is no public transportation).
