Principal Planner
About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Planner to join our team on a permanent basis in our Wollongong or Sydney offices.
This role will contribute to business goals by providing professional planning and resource management advice in both statutory and strategic planning.
As a Senior Urban Planner, you will have the opportunity to work independently on your own projects and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams.
Our team works on a range of land development, infrastructure, and strategic planning projects across New South Wales.
Key Responsibilities:
* Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing, and comprehensive knowledge of NSW urban planning and environmental legislation.
* Act as project manager with planning, programming, and coordination of projects to ensure that project outputs meet or exceed agreed goals.
* Develop project plans and strategies for the completion of major projects, including identification of business resource requirements.
* Manage or assist with the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation and submissions on behalf of clients.
* Undertake technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure that documentation and service levels meet or exceed client's expectations.
* Lead and assist with the preparation of tender documentation.
* Foster client relationships and identify business opportunities.
* Grow, develop, and mentor junior staff.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
* Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing.
* Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
* Self-motivated and self-directed.
* Interest in working on a broad variety of projects.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers, and clients.
* Commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development.
* Drive and passion to solve problems and produce innovative solutions.
