Your impact

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Operations, Australia, in the position of Lead, Site Supply Chain, you will guide and manage all site-specific supply chain (SC) functional areas by developing site specific policies, controlling risk in contracting strategies, supervising budgeting and operational tasks, advancing site safety and sustainability efforts, encouraging continual progress, and nurturing strategic partnerships to align with corporate and region principles, while shaping a skilled, motivated and varied SC workforce across Newmont's Tanami mine operation in the Northern Territory.

Your work environment

Newmont has fully owned and operated the Tanami mine since 2002. The mine operates in the remote Tanami Desert of Australia. The mine and plant are located on Aboriginal freehold land that is owned by the Warlpiri people and managed on their behalf by the Central Desert Aboriginal Lands Trust. Tanami is a fly-in-fly-out operation in one of Australia's most remote locations. Tanami is 270 km from its closest neighbours, the remote Aboriginal community of Yuendumu.

This permanent position will be based on-site at the Tanami Mine Operation in the remote Northern Territory working on an 8:6 fly in, fly out roster from Perth, Darwin, Brisbane or Alice Springs.

Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.

Job description:

As part of our team you will

* Lead a team to formulate and execute Site Supply Chain Management Strategies and implement all enterprise strategies on site
* Coordinate alignment with regional teams and site specific commercial, enterprise and business unit strategies
* Coordinate all safety initiatives by ensuring SC team and contractors follow safety protocols and maintain a healthy work environment
* Implement critical controls to eliminate fatalities and reduce health exposures
* Enhance the quality of pre-start meetings and SPE investigations and foster a safety-focused culture
* Oversee regional transportation and logistics standards
* Coordinate site sourcing and procurement including sustaining capital
* Identify local suppliers, negotiate contracts, and handle key supplier relationships
* Coordinate site SC budgeting process, forecast costs, monitor expenditures, review and approve site capital expenditures and ensure SC operations remain within agreed yearly budgets.

Prerequisites for your success in the role

* Degree qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or related
* Post-graduate MBA qualification or equivalent well regarded
* Sound business acumen with ability to recognize issues, problems and capitalize on opportunities
* Demonstrated experience in leading procurement and contract management processes relevant to the mining industry including sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation and vendor management
* Knowledge of supply chain management systems used in procurement, inventory control and vendor management
* Understanding of materials and services required for maintaining continuous mining production
* Knowledge of local supplier development and engagement strategies and sustainability of local contractors and vendor partnerships
* Familiarity with local procurement policies and practices and exposure across broad local markets
* Proven leadership capability ideally gained within a mining or heavy industry environment
* Skills in contract management software, SAP and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
