About the Organisation
EREA Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,000 young people in 21 Flexible Schools (12 in Queensland and 9 elsewhere) and two Special Education Services Schools in Sydney. Flexi schools support young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations, delivering education in a trauma-informed, supportive environment that emphasises Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal principles embedded in Common Ground.
About the Role
The Transitions Officer will assist and support young people to achieve success in transitioning from school to post-school options such as employment, further qualifications, or higher learning. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary school team to develop pathways, assist with goal setting, and provide learning options to prepare and resource young people to leave school successfully. The role also involves building local networks and partnerships to strengthen community connections with the school.
What you can offer / What we are looking for
Ability to implement strategies to support young people in their learning;
Ability to work within Flexible Schools practice frameworks (Operation by Principles and Common Ground);
Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and with stakeholders;
Tertiary qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent for a Youth Support Worker (or relevant knowledge/experience);
Understanding of social justice principles;
Strong verbal and written communication, meeting processes, report writing and negotiation skills;
Understanding of current youth work practices, trends, and issues in marginalised youth, especially in the alternate education sector;
Computing skills (word processing, Internet) and ability to develop skills in databases;
Experience in careers, transition or employment services;
Ability to work autonomously, show initiative, and have excellent networking skills;
Willingness to assist with daily student transport to and from school;
Current NSW Working with Children Check and a current NSW Driver's Licence (LR licence is an advantage);
First aid certificate or willingness to obtain
