Senior Director – Sensory & Consumer ExperienceImagine leading a sensory research division in one of Australia's leading insights organisations.
You walk into a client briefing and you already know how to push the boundaries of what sensory insight can deliver. You guide your team to challenge assumptions, spot deep consumer truths, and influence major product decisions. That is what success looks like in this Senior Director role based in Melbourne.
You will partner with clients from food manufacturers and consumer brands, becoming their trusted sensory and consumer insights advisor.
When a client invites you to rethink their entire flavour portfolio or consumer experience strategy, you respond with bold design, strong quantitative validation and aligned commercial storytelling.
Your proposals win briefs. Your delivery earns praise. Your insights affect decisions.
Day to day you will:
* Expand the sensory business footprint across Melbourne and nationally
* Build account plans, pitch new ideas, and manage client relationships with authority and integrity
* Ensure projects remain on time, on budget and exceptionally executed
* Lead and grow a team, instilling culture, rigorous thinking and professional growth
* Analyse data, interrogate findings, draw clear client implications and tell a compelling story
* Embed continuous improvement, training, and innovation within the sensory offering
The organisation you join values curiosity, methodological strength and commercial relevance.
You'll be part of a leadership team, helping shape future direction of the sensory and consumer experience function. You'll have autonomy to test new ways, drive change, and build workflows that scale.
You should come with:
* A degree in food science, nutrition, sensory or consumer science or equivalent
* At least 8 to 10 years' hands‑on experience in sensory research or adjacent domain
* A genuine passion for food, its manufacture and how it engages the consumer
* Proven ability to win work, manage P&L and lead people
* Excellent communication, thinking and influencing skills
