As a trainee, you’ll be part of a structured program where you’ll gain practical, hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification in rail operations (shunting). You’ll work alongside experienced team members in a fast-paced environment, developing the skills needed to build a long-term career with Australia’s largest rail freight operator. About the role: Control the movement of trains and carry out relevant instructions always maintaining safety Inspect for faults, repair, service and maintain rollingstock Support maintenance of locomotives, ancillary vehicles, machines, and equipment Conduct brake testing of trains Effectively communicate with other depot personnel as well as clients and operational staff including train control face to face and via two-way radio Undertake shunting and marshalling of trains Other duties as requested About you: C Class Drivers Licence (mandatory) Strong commitment to safety Mechanical aptitude Strong problem solving and communication skills A willingness to workday & night shift (up to 12hr shifts) and including weekend work as required Please note that all applicants will be required to undergo psychometric testing, a drug and alcohol test and carry out a criminal history check!
