Family Support Coordinator – Stanthorpe State School
Join the Queensland Department of Education as a Family Support Coordinator at Stanthorpe State School, a vibrant Prep‑to‑Year‑6 community focused on student success.
As the Family Support Coordinator, you will support children and families in successfully transitioning into school, establish positive patterns of attendance and engagement, and link families to external government and non‑government supports to reduce learning barriers.
Responsibilities
- Work with classroom teachers, teacher aides and specialist support staff to understand the child’s needs and connect families with services, such as health, therapeutic and developmental interventions.
- Support the needs of vulnerable children from diverse, complex backgrounds – including First Nations young persons with disability and those in care.
- Build and sustain relationships with children, families, carers, school staff, government agencies and community services, facilitating family‑led decision‑making processes.
Qualifications
- Experience working culturally responsively with diverse families and students, or willingness to learn culturally appropriate approaches.
- Knowledge of the region’s demographics and local service providers is highly regarded.
- Knowledge or capacity to develop knowledge of the early childhood sector and transition processes for supporting vulnerable families and children.
