Mona, Tasmania's Museum of Old and New Art, is on the hunt for an Assistant Restaurant Manager for The Source Restaurant, an affluent dining venue known for its exceptional service, fine Tasmanian and Australian wines, and fast-paced environment. We're looking for a dedicated leader to join our team in a full-time capacity.
This role is perfect for someone with strong hospitality experience, a deep appreciation for wine, and the leadership skills to guide a team in delivering outstanding dining experiences. You'll be providing key support and working closely with the Source Restaurant Manager and leading our food and beverage team to uphold service excellence, oversee daily operations, and ensure an exceptional experience for every guest.
All that, delivered with the highest quality of service in a contemporary and unpretentious manner. Our Assistant Manager will lead from the floor, driving and motivating the team to serve up an excellent culinary experience, showcasing our state's and Australian wines and cocktails that dazzle the eye.

In this leadership position, the role of the Assistant Manager is to oversee and assist with managing the operations of our venue, while maintaining and building on its wine and beverage culture. We are looking for a genuine leader with drive, motivation, passion, and experience to assume responsibility for our front-of-house team, ensuring particular excellence in wine product, service, and maximising guest experience.
The Source restaurant operates on our museum operational days (Thursday - Monday), both lunches and some dinners, so if you're looking for that one-of-a-kind hospitality management opportunity, this could be it
THE GIG:
* Assist in managing our team, leading from the floor, and developing the supervisors and managers of tomorrow.
* Grow the business through your knowledge, experience of staff & restaurant management.
* Assist in the implementation of operating procedures and maintain a high-service culture.
* Provide exceptional customer service and guest experience.
* Provide a consistently high standard of wine and food service to guests, with support from your supervisors.
* Daily management of wine, beverage lists, and the cellar, driving the team with a focus on wine sales.
* Assist with daily management of bookings, enquiries, H&L proficient, stocktake experience, and staff training.
* Working alongside the Director of Hospitality, Executive Chef & Source Head Chef on daily operations & menus.
THE YOU:
* Hospitality is a way of life for you, not just a job.
* Previous high-end/fine dining experience in an iconic destination environment.
* 2+ years in a leadership role.
* Wine enthusiasm as a minimum, with experience in WSET qualifications preferred.
* Strong knowledge of Tasmanian and Australian wines - beneficial but not essential.
* Passionate about exceptional service and high-quality food and wine.
* Adaptable, professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Confident in mentoring and training team members.
* Valid and current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
* Availability across our trading days (Thursday to Monday) and weekend evenings.
