As a key player in our Information Technology department, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data models to support the organisation's Information Management and business objectives. You will leverage your expertise in various database systems including relational, dimensional, and NoSQL, to build robust databases that streamline business processes and enhance data utilization. Design and Data Modeling: · Develop logical and physical data models, ensuring accurate metadata. · Create and maintain data dictionaries and schema documentation. · Develop data models according to company standards using best practices. · Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts. 2. Data Visualization and Tool Implementation: · Select and implement data visualization tools suited to stakeholder needs. · Configure tools for optimized data access and reporting. · Train end-users on data visualization techniques and tools. 3. Project Solutions Architecture: · Analyze requirements and design models to solve complex business problems. · Ensure models integrate with existing enterprise data architecture. · Develop project plans for the data modeling aspects of new initiatives. 4. Conceptual Data Modeling: · Conduct business analysis to determine entity relationships. · Construct and present conceptual data models for stakeholder review. · Iterate conceptual models based on feedback to align with business goals. 5. Documentation and Communication: · Provide detailed documentation of designed solutions. · Prepare end-user training materials and conduct training sessions. · Develop and deliver change management communications to stakeholders. 6. Project Management: · Manage project timelines and deliverables for data modeling tasks. · Mentor junior data modelers, providing guidance and oversight. · Lead knowledge transfer sessions to operational teams post-project completion. 7. Stakeholder Engagement: · Present data models and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. · Facilitate meetings to review data requirements and modeling outcomes. · Engage with international teams to ensure cohesive data strategies across the organization. 8. Client Engagement: · Elicit and clarify data-related client research requests. · Deliver executive summaries with visual data presentations, ensuring clarity and impact. 9. Data Profiling and Analysis: · Conduct thorough data profiling to identify and understand data anomalies. · Use data analysis to recommend improvements for data models. · Evaluate data-related integration and migration strategies. 10. Collaboration with Database Administration: · Liaise with DBAs to ensure physical database optimizations. · Communicate database design changes and their implications on the physical layout. · Collaborate on the implementation of storage procedures and data retention policies. Qualifications: · Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. · Proven hands-on experience with data modeling tools such as PowerDesigner. · Proficiency in Python, SQL, and other relevant programming languages. · Strong collaborative spirit and problem-solving skills. · Excellent communication abilities with the capacity to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling Experience working in the Information Technology industry Previous experience with database management systems Additional Skills: • Experience with data governance and data quality standards. • Familiarity with big data technologies and cloud platforms is a plus. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
