Council's Regulatory Services teams play a key role in supporting a safe, healthy, and well‐functioning community by administering and enforcing local laws and public health regulations across East Gippsland. The teams manage and support regulatory activities such as animal management and registrations, permits and compliance for businesses and public places including cafés, caravan parks and other registered premises, food safety oversight, environmental health standards, and public health programs such as immunisation.

The Opportunity

As the Regulatory Services Administration Officer, you will provide essential administrative and customer service support to both the Community Laws and Environmental Health teams. You'll be involved in a wide variety of work, from managing databases and responding to customer enquiries to supporting permits, registrations, and public health programs, making it a genuinely varied role where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide administrative and customer service support across Community Laws and Environmental Health, including correspondence, records, and database management.
* Assist officers with data entry, task management, and coordination of permits, inspections, and compliance activities.
* Support permit, registration, and infringement processes to help meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
* Assist with animal management and registration processes, including annual renewals.
* Support environmental health administration for registered premises, food safety programs, septic systems, and public health initiatives such as immunisation.
* Maintain and report accurate data to support service delivery and continuous improvement.

This is a part time 0.8EFT ongoing position, based in Bairnsdale. There is flexibility to work 4 full days per week or 5 shorter (approx. 6 hour) days.

Skills And Capabilities We're Looking For (Key Selection Criteria)

* Technical Capability: Relevant qualifications in database management, administration and/or office management.

Experience In Office/Administrative Functions

* Resilience: Maintains focus and discipline in routine tasks. Responds to setbacks with support.
* Collaboration: Cooperates with others and shares information when prompted.
* Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Seeks resolution of problems by following established processes or seeking guidance. Understands concepts enabling improvements in critical thinking and problem solving.

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
