We are committed to strengthening identity, leadership, wellbeing, and positive life pathways for Aboriginal young people, while promoting reconciliation and community connection.

About the Roles

Reporting to the Manager – Aboriginal Programs, we are seeking two passionate and experienced Aboriginal men to join our growing team as Aboriginal Boys Programs Coordinators.

These positions are being recruited under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) and are therefore open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only.

Based out of our Fremantle Head Office, these roles focus on engaging, mentoring, and supporting Aboriginal boys and young men through culturally responsive, sport-based programs delivered across:

* Department of Justice facilities within the greater Perth metropolitan area
* Community Engagement programs
* School-based programs
* Regional Western Australia, as required each school term

A key component of the role involves delivering programs under a fee-for-service model, working collaboratively with government agencies, schools, and community partners to design and deliver structured, outcomes-focused programs that promote leadership, discipline, wellbeing, and connection to culture.

You will work with a high level of autonomy, while also collaborating closely with the broader Aboriginal Programs team to develop, deliver, and evaluate programs that make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.

These are initial 12-month contracts, with the potential for extension or permanency pending funding.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the coordination and delivery of Aboriginal boys' programs across Justice facilities, schools, and community settings
* Deliver culturally safe, sport-based programs under a fee-for-service model
* Engage, mentor, and role-model positive behaviours for Aboriginal boys and young men
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Department of Justice staff, schools, Elders, service providers, and community stakeholders
* Develop programs in partnership with schools and agencies to meet agreed outcomes
* Coordinate logistics, resources, staff, and reporting to ensure effective program delivery
* Travel within the Perth metropolitan area and to regional Western Australia, as required
* Collect participation data and contribute to program reporting and continuous improvement
* Contribute to broader Foundation programs, initiatives, and events as opportunities arise
What We're Looking For
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal boys and young men, particularly those at risk
* Experience working within correctional or custodial environments (highly advantageous)
* Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, community, and culturally responsive practice
* Confidence delivering structured programs, particularly sport-based or physical activity programs
* Ability to work independently with initiative, while collaborating effectively within a team
* Strong communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills
* Flexibility to travel locally and regionally as required
* Current Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, and unrestricted driver's licence
Why Join Us?

At the Stephen Michael Foundation, you'll be part of a values-led organisation creating real impact across Western Australia. We offer:

* Competitive remuneration in line with the SCHADS Award – up to Level 3.4
* Fuel card, phone allowance, and access to salary packaging
