Offer description

Overview

If you\'re an Occupational Therapist looking for a role with real variety, genuine team culture, and work that reaches people who truly need it, Darwin might be exactly where you\'re meant to be. Optimal Support is an established, values-driven allied health provider and we\'re growing our OT team to meet demand. We currently have seven OTs working in the NT, with experience ranging from new graduates through to clinicians with five, ten and twenty-plus years experience. Add our Speech Pathology team to the mix and you\'ve got a genuinely multidisciplinary environment where collaboration is a daily reality, not just a talking point.

They are a registered NDIS provider based in Darwin, built around the values of compassion, honesty and integrity. We work across the lifespan, with children, adults and older people through NDIS, aged care and private practice, delivering assessments and therapy in people\'s homes, schools, community settings, residential care, correctional centres and our Darwin clinic. Our clinic is well-equipped with dedicated paediatric and adult therapy rooms and an extensive selection of resources and standardised assessment batteries, giving you everything you need to do your best work from day one. We are a neuro-affirming, culturally safe, trauma-informed and LGBTQIA+ inclusive organisation, and we work hard to make sure that\'s reflected in practice, not just on paper.

What the Role Involves

Not every clinician will work across all of our service offerings - as a team we cover this full scope together, which means there\'s always something to learn from a colleague, and plenty of opportunity to share knowledge, co-support clients and grow in areas that interest you.

Our OTs carry diverse, meaningful caseloads including:

* Functional Capacity Assessments and Home and Living Assessments for NDIS participants at access, plan review or change of circumstance
* Ongoing capacity-building therapy across a wide range of goals and presentations, including joint SP/OT sessions
* Sensory Profile assessments and Sensory Diet development
* Minor and Complex Home Modifications Assessments
* Assistive Technology assessment and prescription, including low-cost AT, cognitive supports and safety aids
* Environmental risk assessments and safety planning for individuals at risk of exploitation, self-neglect or harm
* Mobility, transfer planning and manual handling
* Assessment and reporting for the Department of Corrections to support community reintegration, job readiness and life skills
* Comprehensive Return to Country safety plans and SIL Participant Matching
* NTCAT supporting evidence documentation
* Developmental assessment and reporting for children, including those engaged with the Department of Children and Families
* Contributions to multidisciplinary diagnostic processes including FASD and autism (BOT-3 / Vineland-3 / ADOS / FIM)
* OT intervention to support individuals with AOD use, focusing on daily functioning, routines and meaningful participation
* Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plans
* Aged care services including community (HCP/STRC) and residential, both in Darwin and outreach to the Tiwi Islands and East Arnhem Land
What We\'re Looking For
* Any level of experience - early career and senior clinicians are equally welcome
* A neuro-affirming, trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach
* Genuine interest in working with First Nations communities and a commitment to ongoing cultural learning
* A team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment but can manage their own time effectively
* Comfortable with (or open to) regular outreach and regional travel
* A commitment to meaningful outcomes and ongoing professional growth
* Based in Darwin, or genuinely committed to relocating
What We Offer
* Competitive salary: $95,000 – $115,000 per year plus superannuation and travel reimbursements
* An experienced, diverse team: Seven OTs with experience spanning new graduate to 20+ years, alongside our Speech Pathology team
* Well-equipped clinic: Dedicated paediatric and adult therapy spaces, with an extensive range of resources and standardised assessment batteries
* Supervision that\'s actually useful: Monthly external supervision plus ongoing internal supervision from our Principal OT
* Monthly internal professional development: Run both as a full MDT group and in discipline-specific sessions
* Remote outreach: We aim for all staff to work in at least one remote region on a regular scheduled basis - communities are serviced anywhere from weekly to monthly
* Flexibility and autonomy: Manage your own caseload with the support of a close-knit team behind you
* No admin burden: Our dedicated admin team handles scheduling, billing and paperwork so you can focus entirely on your clients and your clinical work
* Relocation support: Not yet based in Darwin? We can assist through available financial support including PHN grant funding
Why Join Us?

We\'re not a startup finding our feet - we\'re an established provider with a strong team, a full clinic and a clear sense of who we are and what we stand for. We\'re growing because demand for our services is growing, and we want the right people alongside us for it. If you\'re based locally or ready to make Darwin home, and you want a role with depth, variety and a team worth showing up for, we\'d love to hear from you.
