The Water Assessment Branch is responsible for providing specialist water resources modelling input into the scientific assessment and monitoring of the Territory's water resources to deliver policy, advice and regulation for the sustainable use of water.
The Division is recruiting an experienced Water Modeller for their Palmerston office and applicants will be assessed on their professional experience and qualifications and appointed at the P2 or P3 level.
As a Water Modeller (P2), your primary objective is to undertake and contribute to water resources modelling of groundwater and integrated surface water, and provide scientific advice, models and reports to ensure the sustainable use of the Territory's priority water resources, in line with the Water Act 1992.
This includes preparing technical reports on model development and applications, researching and implementing industry-leading techniques and standards, and maintaining quality assurance protocols for the storage and archiving of modelling data.
As a Senior Water Modeller (P3), you will take the leadership role in the delivery of the duties and responsibilities outlined in the Water Modelling (P2) role and undertake complex modelling projects and reviews.
To be considered for either position, you require a degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Geology, Applied Science, or a similar tertiary qualification, demonstrated experience in the use of numerical water resource models, or for the senior role, the development of groundwater resource models in a tropical or arid environment.
Experience in the use of GIS tools for the analysis and presentation of water resource datasets, and the ability to prepare technical reports and documents is essential.
