**6-month contract within Federal Government** 
**Full-time, 37.5 hours per week**

**About the Organisation** 
Australia’s regulatory authority that carries out assessment and monitoring activities to ensure goods available in Australia are of an acceptable standard. 
**About the role** 
This particular role will form part of a Branch responsible for evaluating new prescription medicines, leading to an approval or rejection decision. The section is responsible for undertaking critical assessment of complex submissions of clinical data. 
Specific duties include: 
- Undertake evaluation (critical assessment) of complex submissions of clinical data, e.g. clinical trials, provided by sponsors and provide recommendations to the Delegate on whether to register or amend the registration of prescription medicines; 
- Prepare concise written reports detailing the outcome of the evaluation and analysis and detail recommendations in a logical and scientific manner; 
- Evaluate product information concerning medicines to determine whether all relevant information is adequately communicated and recommend changes where appropriate; 
- Assist the Clinical Evaluation Section Director with other tasks as required; 
- Contribute to the provision of high quality medical/clinical advice on regulatory issues to other areas within the Agency; and 
- Participate in and contribute to performance discussions as required or directed by the Manager 
**Mandatory qualifications and experience**: 
- A degree in medicine and relevant clinical experience 
- Registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia with general or specialist level of registration 
**Desirable*** 
- Post graduate tertiary qualifications in a relevant field 
- Fellowship of an Australian medical college, or working towards 
- Work experience in the medical technology or pharmaceutical industries 
- Clinical research experience 
- Familiarity with critical review of clinical research or trial data 
- Academic practice 
- Experience leading and supervising other medical practitioners and skilled staff
