Job Title - AFPA Policy and Project ManagerLocation - Canberra (Deakin Office)Terms - Full-time/Part-time/NegotiableDivision - Australian Forest Products AssociationAbout Us:Headquartered in Canberra, the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) is the peak national industry body representing the forest products supply chain.AFPA represents all elements of the supply chain from the sustainable harvesting of plantations and multiple use natural forest resources, including forest establishment and management, harvesting and transportation of timber resources and manufacture of timber, wood, pulp, paper and bioproducts.About the role:AFPA is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to manage several key functions for the organisation moving forward.AFPA’s Pulp, Paper & Bioproducts Chamber, which involves acting as the Chamber’s committee secretariat as well as developing and driving policy and political solutions for this segment of the sector, on the advice of Chamber members and in collaboration with the AFPA team.The Forest Facts brand and website, a new initiative that aims to inform the public about the importance of the value chain, while countering disinformation being spread about the industry.The role will also contribute to the Association’s other policy, advocacy and communication priorities and events, where there’s an expectation of teamwork on a range of Association functions.Responsibilities:Secretariat and policy management for AFPA’s Pulp, Paper and Bioproducts Chamber. The Chamber includes member companies involved in the business of paper, cardboard and packaging manufacturing.Taking direction from and providing policy guidance to the Pulp, Paper and Bioproducts Chamber, with the aim of strengthening public policy that impacts the Chamber’s members, as well as other stakeholders.Producing detailed policy and political solutions to emerging and ongoing industry issues for the Pulp, Paper and Bioproducts Chamber and industry value chain.Working with the AFPA team to develop the Forest Facts brand and website, including sourcing and developing relevant information and content.Dealing with a range of Association members, stakeholders across industry, government and other sectors to assist in work for the Pulp, Paper and Bioproducts Chamber and Forest Facts responsibilities.Assisting and at times leading other AFPA priorities in the advocacy space, including with Association events and other relevant projects, like seminars.Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree or higher in either policy, communications or public administration disciplines.At least three years’ experience working in policy or communications, either within government or political offices, with experience in natural resources, agriculture and/or forestry highly regarded.Design and website development experience an advantage.The ability and right to work full-time in Australia.About you:You will be a motivated self-starter willing to drive and manage your areas of responsibility within the Association.Confident working independently as well as willing to be part of a broader team.Willing to adapt and change workflows to cater for emerging and changing priorities for the Association.To apply:Email your CV and a cover letter explaining why you would be great for the role (max one page cover letter) to enquiries@ausfpa.com.au by COB Friday 27 June, 2025.
