Slade Pharmacy at Epworth Camberwell is offering a unique opportunity for a Hospital Pharmacist to join our collaborative and supportive team in a hybrid role that blends dispensary responsibilities with hands-on clinical experience.
This permanent part-time position (62.8 hours per fortnight, Tuesday to Friday) is ideal for pharmacists looking to gain or expand their hospital experience—particularly those transitioning from community pharmacy or seeking a more diverse scope of practice.
Approximately 90% of your time will be spent in the hospital dispensary at Epworth Camberwell, supporting rehabilitation and mental health inpatients. The remaining 10% involves delivering clinical pharmacy services one day per week at Epworth Hawthorn, where you'll contribute to patient care through medication reviews, ward rounds, and clinical interventions.
As this role involves travel between two Epworth sites, a valid Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle are essential. This off-site component is a valuable opportunity to develop your clinical skills in a supportive environment, and flexibility to travel is a key requirement.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispensary Operations (Camberwell)
o Dispense and supply medications to rehabilitation and mental health inpatients
o Review prescriptions for accuracy, safety, and PBS compliance
o Provide medication counselling and education to patients and carers
o Support medication reconciliation during admissions and discharges
o Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and multidisciplinary teams
o Maintain high standards of medication safety and inventory control
o Assist with imprest stock management and ensure continuity of supply
* Clinical Services (Hawthorn – 1 day/week)
o Conduct medication reviews and provide clinical interventions
o Liaise with medical and nursing staff to optimise patient outcomes
o Participate in ward rounds and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning
o Document clinical activities and ensure compliance with hospital protocols
This position offers a balance between operational pharmacy and clinical development, with the opportunity to work across two Epworth sites. You'll be supported by a knowledgeable team and have access to the broader Icon Group network, offering structured training and development pathways.
About You
You are a motivated, detail-oriented pharmacist looking for a meaningful way to contribute to patient care in a hospital setting—even if just one shift at a time. You're confident in your dispensing skills, value collaboration, and are eager to grow.
Key Requirements
* AHPRA-registered pharmacist with experience in an Australian pharmacy
* Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travel between sites
* Solid understanding of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
* Strong communication and time-management skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Comfortable working in a structured, patient-focused environment
About The Site
Epworth Camberwell is a 147-bed specialist rehabilitation hospital, offering expert care across a range of services including a dedicated sleep disorders clinic, and mental health support. Slade Pharmacy, located onsite at Epworth Camberwell, supports patients throughout their recovery journey with a wide range of rehabilitation and mobility aids and expert pharmacy services. The pharmacy operates 8am–6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am–1pm on weekends.
