About The Role
The Project Drilling Geologist will be responsible for all underground diamond drilling rigs, and report to the Senior Resource Geologist.
- Own and drive the underground drilling schedule for all diamond drill rigs underground
- Communicate with multiple different stakeholders with a view to seamlessly integrate diamond drilling activities at various planning timeframes
- Be flexible and agile to allow for the addition of any short-term production related holes
- Plan out resources required (sites, logging, hole plans etc.) to ensure that required drilling is completed so that it does not delay any mine planning timeframes.
- Assist the other geos in their drill planning, rig management and first pass interpretation of drill intercepts to ensure drill results get into the model in a timely manner.
- Review regularly the mine planning schedules and drill holes required to gather any missing data. Ensuring that holes are prioritised accordingly
- Core logging, interpretation, flag intercepts, wireframe updates
- assist with the logging order of holes that the resource department will need for upcoming resource work
- Working with the production geology team on any production holes or areas of ambiguity after development
- Contributing to planning meetings to communicate effectively what the geology department diamond drilling plans are
About You
Our current Project Drilling geologist will have the following:
- Bachelor of Science (Geology)
- Experience working in an Underground Mine (desirable)
- Manual Driver’s License
- Ability to work safely, actively identify hazards and assess risks
- Be self-driven
- Ability to engage and effectively communicate with stakeholders
- Have a proven record of high performance and reliability
- Agility and a willingness to be challenged
- Work well in a team environment
- Have a positive attitude
