Empowerment Practitioner Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Empowerment Practitioner to join our team. As an Empowerment Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering an accountable, effective, and culturally strong service to reduce the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the child protection system.
About the Role
As an Empowerment Practitioner, your primary responsibility will be to provide independent facilitation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family-led decision making. You will also enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to participate in decision making about them and their children. This includes facilitating family-led decision making from early in the child protection continuum, supporting self-determination, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle.
Duties
You will conduct family mapping to identify family members who could support the resolution of safety concerns or maintain the child's cultural and family connections. Additionally, you will facilitate family planning sessions in preparation for a family-led decision-making meeting, link families with the support services they need, cultivate effective working relationships across all levels, and guide staff development.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a current Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention, or Criminology. Alternatively, you may hold a Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention. You must also have at least 2 years' relevant experience in social services, with a minimum of 1 year in a case management role.],
