Offer description

Collections and curatorial internships

Each year we offer a small number of unpaid internships to support individuals in gaining hands-on skills in collections care, preventive conservation and curatorial assistance. Our interns work in conjunction with our curator to provide learning opportunities that will enhance employability for those pursuing careers in museums, galleries and archives. The internship program is best suited to students or recent graduates. Possible careers may include: curators, gallery managers, registrars, conservators, educators, writers and installers.

Length and location: internships are approximately 4 months in duration. Applicants should be available on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays each week. The museum is located in Charlotte Street, Brisbane and will be the main location for the internship.

Internships are project-based. There are 3 intern projects for 2026. The first, from January to April, will be focused on compiling an accurate Queensland Survivor Database, as part of our collection. This database will be utilised by all members of staff and may be expanded in the future. It will consist of photographs, credit lines, video testimonies, biographies, locations and places of interest and other relevant information.

Selection criteria:

* Passion for preserving cultural heritage
* Genuine interest in Holocaust history and social justice
* Experience with Canva and Google Drive (desirable)
* Demonstrated attention to detail
* Drive to work independently and as part of a team
* Awareness concerning sensitive and trauma-related material

Application process: To apply, send a one-page cover letter and current CV (PDF and Word files are preferred) to

Please describe why you are applying for the internship and in which areas you would like to gain further experience.
