Job description About The Healing Foundation

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation is a national organisation that elevates the voices and lived experience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families, and their communities.

We work closely with survivors and communities to create environments for survivors to tell their stories and drive their healing. We are committed to the recognition of the Bringing Them Home Report and the realisation of the rights outlined in the report for Stolen Generations and descendants.

We are governed by a Board of First Nations Directors, a Stolen Generations Reference Group, a Youth Reference Group and are led by a First Nations Executive. Our work is informed by the Stolen Generations sector – organisations that provide direct support to Stolen Generations survivors in communities across the country.

About the Role:

The Communications & Events Officer role, will support the planning and execution of The Healing Foundation's communication initiatives and events. This includes coordinating logistics, managing communication processes, and maintaining records. The role also involves assisting with social media, website updates, branding, and event support across teams. The ideal candidate will have strong
project management skills, event coordination experience, and an understanding of culturally centred practices.

Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate vendors, venues, travel, and stakeholder engagement for events.
* Provide administrative and project support, including record-keeping and form updates.
* Develop culturally relevant communication materials under guidance (e.g., presentations, reports).
* Assist with social media, website updates, and managing shared inboxes.
* Support branding, event logistics, and distribution of promotional materials.
* Undertake additional tasks to support The Healing Foundation’s initiatives.
Experience, skills and attributes:
* Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and Stolen Generations contexts.
* Commitment to culturally centred practices in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisation.
* Event planning and coordination experience, including logistics and budgeting.
* Strong writing skills, with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
* Proficiency with communication technologies, including social media and website management.
* Strong teamwork, relationship-building, and multitasking abilities.
