The opportunity
We're hiring a Senior Full Stack Developer to deliver software systems that enable data visualisation and decision support for Defence. You'll develop and maintain full stack web applications for analytical products and decision support systems, implement visualisations integrating with existing services and data sources, contribute to migration from legacy infrastructure to the One Defence Data (1DD) ecosystem, and support the evolution of best practices for agile software development. You'll work under the guidance of a senior technical lead who will provide architectural support and mentorship, collaborating with business analysts, product owners, and military stakeholders to deliver maintainable, secure solutions.
What we're looking for
* 5+ years demonstrated experience developing web applications using modern front-end frameworks (Vue, Svelte, React, Angular)
* 3+ years experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL including stored procedures and advanced queries
* Understanding of 3NF and Kimball data architectures
* DevOps and automation experience
* Strong communication skills and ability to interact with diverse stakeholders across structured organisational culture
Essential requirements
Active NV1 clearance minimum | Canberra-based - remote options will not be considered
Desirable
Experience with military/Commonwealth ICT systems, Python, Kubernetes/Docker, cloud platforms, AI/ML engineering, providing technical guidance to external consultancies
