Heritage Advisor Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heritage Advisor to lead our commercial consultancy projects. The successful candidate will have expertise in project management, stakeholder engagement, client liaison, archaeological assessment and excavation, and reporting.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dedicated professional to join our team as a Heritage Advisor. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading commercial consultancy projects, working closely with clients to deliver exceptional results.
You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from cultural heritage assessments to project management, and will be expected to provide high-quality advice and guidance to clients.
Requirements
* Appropriate degree (anthropology, archaeology, history, heritage studies) with Honours or equivalent;
* Three or more years' experience in consulting or equivalent professional practice;
* Demonstrated experience in client liaison, project management, directing project teams, working to deadlines within budget constraints, engaging and managing subcontractors;
* Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage management in Australia;
* Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal community consultation;
* Demonstrated experience in field investigations and recording, research and impact assessment;
* Solid understanding of principles and best practice guidelines as outlined in the Australia ICOMOS Burra Charter;
* Knowledge of relevant Victorian and Commonwealth legislation;
* Demonstrated ability to meet Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental requirements;
* Demonstrated ability to prepare assessment and management reports to a high professional standard;
* Valid Australian Drivers' licence;
* Construction Industry Safety Induction (White Card) - or a willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Criteria
* Being (or being eligible to be) listed as a Heritage Advisor under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.);
* Active research interests and involvement with professional bodies;
* Specialist skills such as artefact analysis, GIS, surveying, geomorphology, geoarchaeology, geochronology, historical research, archival photographic recording and/or heritage interpretation; and
* Demonstrated experience conducting Aboriginal cultural values mapping, surveys and/or assessments.
