MER Group is a small, growing and hands‐on consultancy working with mining and energy clients across Australia. We're looking for a Tailings Engineer (Senior through to Principal level) who wants to take a leading technical role on projects to deliver practical solutions for clients.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior to Principal Tailings Engineer for a full-time hybrid role based in Sydney, NSW, with flexibility for work‐from‐home arrangements. A fully remote working arrangement will be considered for the right applicant. The primary responsibilities include:
* Technical design, reviews, risk assessments, site visits and construction support for tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and associated infrastructure
* Engage directly with mine operators, regulators and contractors
* Contribute to business development, including proposal support and client relationship management
* Work closely with the Company Directors and contribute to building a high‐performing team of engineers and designers
About You
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Mining Engineering
* 7+ years in tailings or geotechnical engineering (including strong experience in TSF design, management and construction)
* CPEng or equivalent (or working toward chartership)
* Knowledge of relevant industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements
* Experience with feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical reporting
* Strong technical writing and communication skills
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team
* Availability to start ASAP
