The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including over 4,000 administrative staff who support sworn officers delivering law and order services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the diverse community of New South Wales.


About the role

We have an opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to be part of our Technology and Communications Services Command. The Senior Network Engineer provides high‑level network engineering support for a diverse range of data and communications network infrastructure, including core networks and remote site connectivity. This role is critical within the Security Platform team and is accountable for the implementation, security, and support of high‑performance network infrastructure for NSW Police.


Core Responsibilities

* Design, deploy, and manage F5 BIG‑IP modules including LTM, ASM, APM, and GTM.
* Perform load balancing, SSL offloading, and application firewall configurations.
* Develop and maintain iRules and iApps for traffic management and security enforcement.
* Design and implement SASE architecture, integrating networking and security functions such as SD‑WAN, CASB, ZTNA, and SWG.
* Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of SASE and Proofpoint technologies.
* Deploy and manage Proofpoint solutions including Email Protection, Threat Intelligence, DLP, and Security Awareness Training.
* Troubleshoot complex network and application delivery issues.
* Maintain documentation for network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
* Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response as needed.
* Monitor network performance and security posture, proactively identifying and resolving issues using tools such as Splunk and Solarwinds.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
* Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for network and security events.


Requirements

* Permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen.
* Successful completion of a National Police (criminal history) Check.
* Maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.
* Advanced expertise in F5 application delivery controllers, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions, enterprise firewalls, and email security platforms.
* Strong problem‑solving abilities, hands‑on technical skills, and cross‐functional collaboration.
